About the Author
Irene lives happily in Denver, Colorado with her husband Burley. She keeps herself busy leading tours of the Denver Botanic Gardens, walking and biking in the neighbourhood and remembering the twelve adventurous years spent travelling on a tandem with Burley in different parts of the world. She taught high school biology for thirty years. Born in what was Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, seventy three years ago she speaks with a funny accent which is not English.

What An Adventure!

I bought this book as a Valentine’s Day gift for my bike-loving spouse and found myself inhaling the first two chapters before I wrapped it - I was hooked! Since then, I’ve been reading over his shoulder and eagerly awaiting the day he finished. I found “On A Bicycle Built For Two” to be a remarkable labor of love, spanning 12 years of one of the most incredible adventures a couple can take. It’s written in a warm and incredibly inviting manner. It grabs your heart and lets you follow along without the work of peddling. It will not only take you to faraway places in a way only an observant cyclist can describe, it will leave you pondering your own unlimited potential for travel. I’m ready to saddle up again!

Beautifully written description of an amazing 12 years of tandem bicycling all over the world by two very adventurous people.
Irene Shephard gives you insight into things you would never see when traveling with tours or in automobiles and trains.
Most of us will never make this kind of world tour but this book offers a marvelous vicarious experience. And, for those young, strong
and adventurous souls, you will be inspired by Burley and Irene Shephard's experiences.
