I had tried to move into performing several times, had even had some outside success, but I was still full of self-doubts and insecurities on the inside.

I realized I had to make changes 'from the inside out' if they were to stick.

Luckily, this was when I discovered EFT, a kind of healing modality, sometimes described as 'acupuncture without the needles'. Through that I began working with a life coach who helped me to change many of the self-beliefs and blocks that were keeping me stuck. I also started meditating, as well as developing certain writing exercises. These enabled me to begin taking courses in goalsetting and planning as well as stage presence and video makingI started taking action based on this new knowledge and found myself achieving more and living much more 'on purpose'.

From my experience this book was born. Just as I did, whether you are a musician like I am or not, you will:

About the Author
Jenny Clift is a professional freelance violinist who currently lives in Madrid, Spain. 
She works (plays!) with several different symphony orchestras, and with her violin and guitar duo, the Laurus Freestyle Duo, as well as making CDs, recordings, Youtube videos and online courses.

Having successfully moved into performing, after many years of working as a teacher, she felt inspired to write a book about how, with the help of inner techniques such as EFT and meditation, she managed to make that change into what she really loves to do. 

She now writes articles, courses and offers coaching to help others (whether musicians or not) achieve the success that they desire.

5 Star, without a doubt

Although the author is an accomplished musician with a vast body of work to her name, by writing this, her first book, Ms Clift has created an invaluable tool for my own use to really look at my life, my dreams and my accomplishments. With this book, I've started to step forward and look for the music, (the voice, the person, the always wanted to be), that is inside and which I now feel, has been asking to be found.

It's a beautifully written work that starts with the authors early life, her lost dreams, the nurturing of inner fears and recurrent memories of failure and "if only's". This part is a deeply personal account and is painfully honest and at times heartbreaking to read. The author then moves quickly on to her way of not only dealing with these doubts and self inhibitions, but learning to overcome and master them to the point where the author feels empowered and in control of her own future direction and happiness. This is an account of the authors life on full show, warts an' all, in a humorous, honest and moving way.

The passion for her music and her latter belief in her dream being attainable, pours out of the pages. And this enthusiasm for life and bringing out "the music inside" of oneself is contagious.

From her early years of fear of change, she moves on to the introduction in her life of EFT and other spiritually enhancing methods (Affirmations, gratitude, forgiveness, meditation etc.) Ms Clift describes a life of reaching for dreams, self belief and attaining her goals. The changes the author experiences are amazing and I for one plan to follow up the advice given on Tapping. Listing her own fears as examples of what she personally had to deal with, the author breaks these down to show how they were overcome.

I find this book totally inspiring, and the advice to listen to the inner music and not the voice inside your head is so perceptive. I feel this is an invaluable book and great value for any money with a heap of audio bonuses inc an MP3 Audio book read by the author.

I felt myself carried along as though aloft the most beautiful violin concerto

Jenny is a gifted musician and a natural storyteller. she writes, as she plays, with sensuality, beauty, humility, and grace.

Her life story enchanted and enraptured me from the beginning. I felt myself carried along as though aloft the most beautiful violin concerto. I forgot that this was a book about following your bliss, and overcoming fear - although the points were never lost.

As a holistic psychologist, counsellor and recovering perfectionist I fully endorse the techniques the author shares. I encourage, as Jenny does, anyone who feels trapped in a life or career they no longer want, and for whom unhelpful beliefs and past hurt and saboteurs may be keeping them stuck, to be open-minded and experiment with both cognitive and spiritual approaches to healing. The Music Inside spoke to me on so many levels.

Jenny's former tutor at Trinity, Mr Katona, sounds like a cold and cruel person. Yet, by telling her to strip all the music out and begin again Jenny has, through her own struggles to find herself again, refound her gifts and also her purpose - to help others reclaim their authentic selves and sing again.

This is a powerful memoir of healing. Through books (bibliotherapy!), EFT, Law of Attraction principals, Esther Hicks and spiritual channeling, therapy and journalling...and music...Jenny courageously and honestly and passionately shares her journeyed back to her fearless and authentic creative self.

This is an engaging and inspiring story about letting go, acceptance, love and working with energy and intentionality. A great resource for anyone wanting to let go of the past, disempower crippling beliefs, overcome anger or anything holding them back.

Unexpectedly I I found myself thinking about dreams left unfulfilled, slaughtered by criticism and opinions about technique etc I mistakenly gave too much power. I'll call them my "Mr Katona's." So I'm going to do a "Jenny" and feel the fear but love my joys anyway! In particular I'm thinking of a romance novel I began over a decade ago, I titled Music For My Soul...a love story (at the time) inspired by a passionate encounter with a violinist in Venice!!!

Jenny Cliff leads the way - showing you how to live and work with joy, happiness and purpose. And lots, lots more. Highly recommended!

I grew to know Bill through the Wendy Paine O Brien Center honoring his daughter, I was impressed with his Passion for Life and his courage in adversity. About the Author

This is a wonderful book about and amazing man.

The Extraordinary Life of Bill O'Brian is delightfully fascinating from cover to cover. You can't help but love this man by time you finish reading this book. From his many childhood adventures to his extensive travels with his entrepreneurial businesses; he carved out quite of life for himself and his family. I so enjoyed reading about his philanthropic work in preserving the natural beauty of our Camelback mountain and protecting it from exploitation. I found myself often laughing out loud at the hilarious and witty things he said and did and occasionally tearful when reading about his challenges in life. It is obvious that this book was loving penned by author, Nikos Ligidakis, as he too was swept away by this "larger than life" man who called himself an Ordinary Arizona Irish Cowboy.

This book reads as if you are at the dining room table after each and every chapter. Bill as a wonderful friend, and the author Nikos Ligidakis presents the life and times of this friend of mine just as if Bill was explaining his life's adventures again to me over a steak dinner. I am sorry for his early departure from this world, but am convinced we will meet again in the after life to come.

About the Author
Of proud Italian descent, JesseLee Jones was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Years later, when he became an American citizen, a piano was brought into the courtroom, in Peoria, IL, and JesseLee sung "America the Beautiful" for all present. Within days, he and his band flew to the Middle East to encourage American Soldiers during Desert Storm. Today he lives in Nashville, TN, and continues to promote God and Country. In fact, he owns The Nashville Palace and Robert’s Western World, two internationally famous honkytonks in Music City. At both locations, the Appalachian Hillbilly sound is celebrated in every respect, along with the roots of Western Swing, and all Traditional Country Music! When a local minister asked for permission to have worship services at Robert’s on Sunday mornings, JesseLee did not hesitate to say yes. He says yes to almost all opportunities afforded him to show his appreciation for his American citizenship.

Its like reading a diary ... random thoughts in random order. Not an easy read because of the way it is written. JesseLee certainly had a complex childhood full of his mother's mysticism dabbling and his father's revolving door appearance. JesseLee overcame a lot of challenges. Music was an outlet for him and allowed him to rise above the environment of his youth . Coming to the United States and finding his way through the strange language and customs certainly is an achievement that many immigrants face. He is a survivor.

Nothing can separate us from God!

This is the true story of a boy whose mom was prepared to jump to her death while in labor as she just wanted it over with. He grew up in a variety of homes in Brazil, many of them not in good neighborhood and with much stress inside the home as well. His mom had a quick temper, and would beat him as well as cousins, and later his sisters.

One time he played with a police gun at his father's bar and he was given another beating.
"Wow! I took a licking for that one, but again, I did not know what I was doing. I quickly learned there were consequences for such an action, though my dad certainly learned a less, as well, about leaving a gun laying in front of a curious little child. Yes, lessons were learned by both of us that day.!" pg. 23, 24

He was the eldest of three children and when dad left, as he did a few times, he was sent initially to live with his aunt and uncle, up until they could handle the upheaval in their home no more. It was while living here that he was exposed to his uncles' collection of music: classical, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Motown and Gospel.
"Mere words are non-existent when I attempt to describe how much joy that beautiful music brought into my life day by day." pg. 33

Jesse's mom was very much into the occult and this wreaked havoc on this family, and we learn some of this in the book. The average reader may find this hard to believe, but having read the Bible, know it's very much possible, although some of the incidents were hard to fathom. We like to believe angels exist but when it comes to the dark spirit world we often like to gloss over just how active they can be.

Even with all this going on, God was at work in this young life, and even though not an easy road, you will be amazed at God's intricate working in situations, with people and even the embassy. God is a miracle working God! Don't believe me? Pick up this book and read it for yourself. This is one of those books you will pick up and not be able to put down...until it's done.

About the Author
Iain McGarvie-Munn was educated in Guatemala, Colombia, England and France where he studied architecture and devoted nearly thirty years to renovating castles and opening them to the public. He is the recipient of France’s most prestigious awards for the restoration of historical buildings and was decorated with the French Medal of Tourism in 1995. His novel, Freedom Bound: A Jessica Parker Adventure, was published in 2015.

A Stellar Tale, Stellarly Told, A Rollicking Romp of a Read -- for both Summer beach & Winter fireside

When walking down the street, I often look at people I pass by and wonder about their lives. … Have they had an easy go of it this time round? Has there been deep sorrow? Great challenge? What mythic, archetypal-form have their lives taken? To what crucial crossroads have they come – and come through – and with what degree of scathe?

Sometimes we get lucky and find out. Sometimes someone looks at their life through the lens of art, and presents to us a gift in the form of film, dance, music, written word. Sometimes we see but a slivver. Sometimes the door is opened wide and we are welcomed in.

Iain McGarvie-Munn has opened his door to us – many doors -- and all the windows and the attic vents, and handed us the key to his (prodigious) wine cellar and to exchanges which happened there.

As the story unfolded of renovating his ancient 75-room castle, I was transfixed – both by how he pieced back together a huge crumbling heap of stone, and also by the attendant human drama -- the melodrama, the delicious melodrama. If I did not have on good faith from a reliable source that this is a book of nonfiction, I might wonder how much of the audacious, preposterous events had instead actually been fabricated. An example: When as a teenager he fell into being an accessory to the kidnapping of his younger sister, the grand-daughter of a former president of Guatemala – which included transporting her across international lines (!)

But this is not just a story of physical restoration and scintillating human drama. It is also about how the long, winding journey of restoring this chateau helped bring about healing for the townspeople for what this edifice had too long represented. Age-old, long-simmering, justifiable resentment by peasant/serf for the chateau’s various lord-and-master dictators -- held fast over the centuries -- began to dissolve. Through McGarvie-Munn’s envisioning and carrying out creative, imaginative uses for the again-viable building - - e.g., educational and community arts events -- a new feeling and image of the chateau began to take shape within the townspeople. A symbol of master-serf oppression and resentment became transformed into a place of civic pride.

The last four years' work at the chateau were particularly intriguing to me. In those four years, through the invaluable -- and necessary --influence of the new love of his life -- the remarkable Juliet, the ghosts holding hostage the chateau over the centuries at last loosened their grip and were dispelled. This last work brought true completion to the physical renovation, one which gave the edifice a good and possible role for the future.

I am glad McGarvie-Munn immersed himself so fully in living his life. I am glad he is one of the people who have looked thru the lens of art and have written stories of their lives. I am glad that thru this book, we, now, get to immerse ourselves in his life. I feel enriched by the telling – which is what art is all about.

A Worthwhile Obsession

We are used to being pleasantly overwhelmed by movies and stories full of danger, daring exploits, love affairs, mysteries and passions, and stories of lives extremely different from our own. Less often do we get to spend many hours listening to such stories directly from the one who lived them all. Here, with this book, we get to do that.

I can’t imagine anyone not being fascinated and compelled to read all of it, and after reading it, wanting to ask: “How did you do this!??” “How did you go through so much - suffering, delight, passion, drama, relentless and brilliant work, betrayal, and redemption? How did you go through all of that and a) stay alive, and b) learn from the worst and take the best and c) create from all of it a deeply grounded life, full of insight, intelligence, love, and transcendence?

Somehow your life, I would say to the author, was a marvelous and intelligent filter, that kept you whole. Maybe also, you have really good and closely watching angels.

I thoroughly enjoyed “I had a chateau in Provence,” and found myself transformed from the Guatemalan countryside to the hardships of being thrown into boarding school in England to the restoration of a chateau in the South of France. Sometimes truth is harder to believe than fiction….this book is riveting and hard to put down. The author is able to bring the reader into his emotional world– from the sense of adventure to flying undetected into Guatemala when kidnapping his sister to the grounds of the chateau filled with music and art. The vulnerability in which he shares his life is both poignant and awe inspiring. Not only will this be a best seller, but a high drama movie. Bravo for a well crafted telling of an amazing life story.

About the Author
Michael Burec grew up like most kids did in the 1970's and 1980's in Kansas City Missouri. After High school he got married and had a child, joined the Army in 1987, and went to war with the 101st Airborne during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. This book is written in American English and does contain some curse words throughout to tell the story of events as close as possible to the way they happened. This is not an Official Military document, but just 1 man's view of an important time in his life. This book is about the struggles and time spent in a far away land building a Desert Shield and weathering a Desert Storm in the Saudi Desert. I hope you enjoy

This book is a good example of why we want to keep war out of America. Every one in this country should read this book to see what can happen to normal happy human beings when a dictator takes over and does not give a damn what pain and loss he can do to his country..
Hitler was a sick egoistic monster who made the rules and you better lived by them. You just can't imagine how bombed out people had to survive with nothing but their clothes on their backs after air raids .I know I lived in that war as well.

Sketches painted in the color of life

Two people sit in front of the luminous window of a diner late one night; they share an intimate conversation filled with the savor of life. A man in a car drives past that window and catches a quick glimpse of the two, as though placed in the rectangular screen of a cinema. His loneliness makes him guess what the two discuss. The envious voyeur walking past the same window sees the rapt couple and his envy determines a wholly different story. A moment later an optimist whistles by and sees the same two people bent in their profound confidence. She too reaches an understanding of the scene the duo is playing out. And each of them-- the lonely man, the voyeur, the optimist--each of them draw a different conclusion about what brings the two together in that diner at that hour and in that conversation. The author of this book reckons on the kindness of time; she says as much. She revisits her memories of a war-torn Germany and revives them. But far from being a story of depredation, the author is genuinely the optimist. Falling bombs and the specter of death offer no deterrence to the generous humanism of her observational skills.

Ursula Frank-Pegg begins her book by noting the enormous, the stunning, yes, the life-altering losses surrounding her. In one fell swoop she loses her childhood home and her beloved father. But it is through these twin losses and the repeated wounds and ravages of war that an author is born into the world. Only in her teens at the time of World War II, the young Ursula, usually in the company of her mother, undertakes a peripatetic existence where any "home" is but a temporary affair; no more than a crawlspace sized attic or the narrow cot of a cold nunnery. By dint of circumstances, she is always on the move - sometimes literally on the run from screaming peril looming in the skies above. And like the vagabond war makes of her, the author meets many people along her way, often for the briefest - but most emotionally fraught -moments of time. These brief meetings lead to the sketches of life that fill the book in precisely the same manner as a talented artist, who quickly captures the marvels he sees on a journey to an exotic land, through deft strokes of his charcoal and pen. Somehow in the midst of ruins, life continues. The author, the hero of this autobiography, keeps smiling, finding friends (as well as her share of small noxious persons made even pettier by deprivation) and in one glorious moment the love of her life, who, like so many other characters, slips by like a face caught through the passing window of a train. (It is exemplary of the poetry of this book that the author's first kiss in a shadowy room is captured by a reflection in a darkened mirror; an apt metaphor for the work of memory if ever there was one.) And like the wheels of the train or bicycle that convey her ever forward, she remains unconquerable. If one can't say that war is necessarily what brought this young girl into blossom, it can be said that war is what sets the events taking place and the fleeting relationships forged and then undone into a high relief that allows their vividness to shine forth.

The prose of the book perfectly expresses the author's youthful adventuring. She sets forward events and things in the breathless voice of a teenaged girl discovering the myriad mysteries of life in the most unlikely of circumstances. Even in revisiting these events decades later the author imbues her words with the enthusiasm of adolescence; an enthusiasm so great that even the dark presence of Hitler and a world war can't truly dampen it. This vivacity is one aspect that makes this little volume such a noteworthy book.

In sum, the book is a most-have for anyone curious about life in Germany during the war years; it also belongs in the repertoire of those books devoted to the indomitability of the human spirit. It restates the notion, with the vigor of a chant: life, life, above all, life!

From 1939 to 1945 - the years of my youth.

At 85 years of age, the idea of putting my diaries, mental or written by hand, into books, intrigued me. "Or was I too old", I asked myself? Indeed, during the war years in Germany, it was hard to get a hold of enough writing paper to keep up with current events. But my memory was strengtened by my dreams, which have helped me to remember what had been extraordinary in my life.

The war years from 1939 to 1945, which might seem to the reader a very long time, still haunt me, but at he same time bring with them an unexpected clarity. While we believe our memory will fade, the drama, the horror of yesteryear, is as stark as it once was, but it does not depress me, as you might assume. no, it only surprises me again that I survived.

As the time of horror and deprivation is unrolled for the readers, they will be able to decide, if I was lucky or if I am a tragic figure after having gone through WWII .
Undoubtedly it is due to my strong faith and to God's protection that I am still here to tell the tale. And if I have decided to share my memoirs in prose as well as in rhyme see "War Child's Love Song") I must admit it would never have occurred to me that I would write poertry. It just began to flow when I was in my seventies - I simply had to follow its thread. that's why two versions of my war time exist - in prose and rhyme - the latter being meant for the reader, who likes his stories short and compact, without missing the drama of the happenings.

This book is meant as a wake-up call about war - it transcends borders. War calls for victims on both sides. Looking back, I am just one of many victims who somehow were drawn into the spikes of a seemingly never ending wheel that took its merciless turns through a whole continent. The point is that what happened to me in Germany undoubtedly took place in every other country affected by WWII: Those who had, often did not want to share with the have-nots. That also belongs to the fortunes of war - so often overlooked. The ones, who were only disturbed by the atmosphere, the fear of losing life or property, often held on to what they kept with an iron fist. of course, i met a lot of good people - i got around - I became one of the new Gypsies of the Third Reich, while the real Gypsies had been swallowed up, just like the Jewish people, by the merciless machine set to work in Hitler's Reich.

I must admit that it feels good to share my tale and ask the question "Can you imagine that this would happen to you?

Much, much more than we knew

"Who Was Honda" is a very easy read about a very extraordinary individual. Soichiro Honda valued and was influenced by many of the ideals often associated with oriental culture. The author’s writing style brings the reader into that culture as she highlights all of the key points of his life.
He was fascinated by engines from the first moment he saw one as a young boy and dedicated his life to making them not only bigger, but also more efficient. At a very young age, he understood the value of innovation. He was never satisfied with what was, but was always looking for improvement.
He applied the same inspiration to his personal life. He wanted the Honda Company to be as great as the Honda engine.
He set the standard for being a CEO of a worldwide company.
This excellent book provides an introductory insight into a man who revolutionized a whole industry. His name is one we are all familiar with, yet most of us know little about him. The author provides the first step into learning more about the man named Honda and the company he founded.

Naughty Boy Makes Good

A fascinating story of a mischievous boy who realized his dreams through hard work and dedication. Sochiro Honda built his successful company while he was still a young man with only an elementary school education and he never stopped working to improve the quality of his work.

Ahead of his time, he treated his workers well, furnished pleasant working conditions in his factories and recognized the importance of good community relationships. He won many prizes and was liked by everyone he met.

Young readers will enjoy the stories of all his mischievous antics when he was a boy.

Each time I drive my Honda Civic, I smile, remembering all the things i learned in this book about the man who was responsible for my car.

O. Snow has written many stories and books. Who Was Honda? is, by far, one of her best! The child, and the man, Honda, come alive on these pages. O. Snow is a friend of mine, and I told her this story reminded me of the Value Tales we read to our children when they were young. These books were about well-known people who used different values to succeed in life. Who Was Honda? could certainly be a Value Tale to be read to or by children. Many values are incorporated into this story,: curiosity, dedication, honesty, and even love, for example. I encourage parents, especially, to purchase this small book.

Any regular Nee Yorker reader or publishing pro will enjoy reading this. It's well written and interesting, but a short history of a specific time period and not an overall history of the magazine.

About the Author
Dr. Eugene F. Brigham is Graduate Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, where he has taught since 1971. Dr. Brigham received his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Brigham held teaching positions at the University of Connecticut, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of California-Los Angeles. Dr. Brigham has served as president of the Financial Management Association and has written many journal articles on the cost of capital, capital structure, and other aspects of financial management. He has authored or co-authored ten textbooks on managerial finance and managerial economics that are used at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and have been translated into 11 languages worldwide. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous electric, gas, and telephone rate cases at both federal and state levels. He has served as a consultant to many corporations and government agencies, including the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the U.S. Office of Telecommunications Policy, and the RAND Corporation. Dr. Brigham continues to teach, consult, and complete research in addition to his academic writing. He spends his spare time on the golf course, enjoying time with his family and dogs, and tackling outdoor adventure activities, such as biking through Alaska.

Joel F. Houston is the John B. Hall Professor of Finance at the University of Florida. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College. Prior to his appointment at the University of Florida, Dr. Houston was an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Joel's research is primarily in the areas of corporate finance and financial institutions, and his work has been published in a number of top journals including THE JOURNAL OF FINANCE, JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL ECONOMICS, JOURNAL OF BUSINESS, JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. Professor Houston also currently serves as an Associate Editor for the JOURNAL OF MONEY, CREDIT AND BANKING, the JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL SERVICES RESEARCH and the JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL ECONOMIC POLICY. Since arriving at the University of Florida in 1987, Joel has received 19 teaching awards, and has been actively involved in both undergraduate and graduate education. In addition to co-authoring leading textbooks in financial management, Dr. Houston has participated in management education programs for the PURC/World Bank Program, Southern Company, Exelon Corporation and Volume Services America. Joel enjoys playing golf and tennis and spending time with his wife (Sherry) and two children (Chris and Meredith). He is an avid sports fan who follows the Florida Gators, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
