The Greatest Asset

That greatest assets includes being blessed with a well-founded vision and creative gifts. Everyone have a special gift that involves some sort of creativity. It is time for us to embrace what God made us different for us to get one's hands on the keys, the invincible treasures, which unlocked the doors to an unimaginable life and power to overcome any stumbling blocks. There was a quote that my friend and fellow Author, Anika Ennett Martin posted on her Facebook Timeline, "When we try to be someone other than who we are purposed to be, we really are insulted God." God bring into being each of us as unique person. God created us in His design among different images, different personality, likes, and dislikes and abounding supplementary characteristics that assemble each of us out of the ordinary. To embrace the uniqueness, you have to proceeds toward courage. More than that, you need to understand the value in the authenticity that God blesses you along the side of prosperous life. When you decide to make a commitment to pursue your purpose and passion in life, you can't allow distractions to get to you. The devil will send people as noisemaker to lure you away from who you are and your dreams. Merri Christ Pemberton spoke to me personally. When I fist start working on my book, people was encouraging me and told me that they will support me. When I finally published my book, I have so many noisemaker criticize me for putting the focus on my book. Some told me that I wouldn't make any money or it is limited income. I just let them talk and stay on the course. I was willing to take a risk by getting out of my comfort zone and try to do something.

but she puts her trust and love in him

At the beginning, Tricia writes lovingly about her home and her husband’s place in it. When they divorce, she keeps the house. When she marries Keith, her priorities begin to change. Keith takes her to new states, new businesses and new adventures. These myriad of changes force Tricia out of her comfort zone. Sometimes it’s terrifying, but she puts her trust and love in him. She slowly realizes that Keith is her home, not the many houses she thought were her priorities.

I enjoy memoirs because I find it fascinating to pull up a chair and get a front row view of another person's life and thoughts.I especially like to learn about lifestyles different from my own. I found what I was looking for in Ms. Pimental's story of her life after she begins a second marriage. Life with her new husband turns into a helter-skelter experience of moving back and forth across America and setting up a new household 11- 14 times in a few years. (The range of numbers is because the author and her husband had a different way of measuring their trips.) Moves to Florida, Nevada, Florida, Utah, Florida, New Hampshire along with starting new businesses along the way, are described by the author with humor and a positive attitude. "This book is more astute than a quick chat over pomegranate-laced micro-greens. To label Ms. Pimental’s newest book merely a great summer (or winter) read is to underestimate its intelligence and insight. Ms. Pimental talks frankly of her struggles with being uprooted by her husband’s wanderlust, working and living at the mercy of bosses, world events, childrens’ lives and even pet care. More than anything, these are stories women can relate to. Ms. Pimental deftly quotes Virginia Woolf, Beryl Markham, and other trailblazing women all while clutching Frampton, the teddy bear her daughter gave her. Great Paperback of Dictionary + Additional Resources

This is a great paperback version of the dictionary. It's a bit thick, but the weight is fine and easy to keep with you. It's also updated, has great explanatory notes, pronunciation page, the periodic table and metric/measurement system. In addition it has a section of foreign words, biography and geography - common names of people and places. It is a great source and I highly recommend this product! You will not be disappointed!

Even our 10 year old with great vision complained about the print

When we bought the dictionary, we looked for the most current one. this was the most current, but you need an magnifying glass to read anything. Even our 10 year old with great vision complained about the print.
After receiving it, we looked for a large print edition but were not able to find a current copy, but there is none available.

A longtime resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and a graduate of Stanford University, Michael Babcock (American, b. 1950) lives and writes in Oakland, California. He is a former graphic designer and computer programmer. His nearly sixteen-year friendship with Susan Seddon Boulet was enriched by their shared interests in symbols and archetypes. A Comprehensive Review of the Artist and her Unique Talent

Susan Seddon Boulet - A Retrospective, by Michael Babock, beautifully recounts the life of an internationally-known Bay Area artist, while a well-chosen selection of her paintings and sketches documents the many changes in her style, her use of new techniques and materials and, ultimately,her inner struggle with the concepts of life, death and resurrection as she courageously battles the cancer that ultimately claimed her life in April of 1997.
Boulet, whose body of work numbers in excess of 3,000 pieces painted from 1970 through 1996, began to draw and paint at a very early age. In the 1970's, after her husband died, she began to blossom as an artist, and her work in the 1980's and 90's reflects her growing confidence in her own very personal vision and style.
Boulet was a consummate master at painting multiple layers and levels of detail that only reveal themselves as one looks at a painting over and over again. From the painting "Dreams", with its rich panoply of animals, fishes, and architectural details, to Penelope, with its dark overlay of emotion and reflection, the body of work chosen by the writer to reflect Susan the "person" is a wonderful companion to the thoughtful prose of the text.
Pomegranate Press, the publisher of the Retrospective, allows the author full license to capture Susan fully, as artist, visionary, personal friend, humorist and story-teller. This book, with its emphasis on portraying Boulet's magical touch at bringing the mundane and the spritual into proximity as they relect the human condition as well as the universal "inner landscape", will inspire and comfort those who knew and loved her, and those who loved - and love- her work.

One of the best unknown artists of our times

Having just received this book today I haven't had time to read it closely. All I can say in regards to my first look through this book though is "WOW!" I'd rate it far higher than a five-star if that were an option.
Having been a Susan Seddon Boulet fan for a few years, since discovering her calendars published by Pomegranate, I have eagerly awaited new books about her life and artwork. Out of all of them, which are all wonderful, this one is by far the best.
The book is a biography of Susan Seddon Boulet's life from her childhood to her death in 1997. It is much more than that, though. It is filled with full color pictures of her wonderful, fascinating artwork. It also includes excerpts from her journals and diaries and gives the reader a beautiful account of who she was.
Who was she? She is a visionary artist. Her artwork is dreamy and fairy-tale-like in many respects, but that doesn't mean it isn't bold and daring. Her artwork is something you have to experience to believe. It is powerful. It makes you want to know the mind, the person, the soul behind it. This book has it.

A must-have for any Susan Seddon Boulet afficionado

I've purchased several S.S.B. books in the past because I love her work, but I was frustrated with these books because they were exclusively picture books that revealed nothing about the artist herself or the life she was living.
I was also frustrated by their lack of artistic documentation found in the other S.S.B. books. I wanted to know so much more about Boulet and what inspired the images I was seeing (not to mention the dimensions and what -medium- and technique was being used to create them) and how they progressed over time.
This book -finally- provides all that, and then some. It's well written and beautifully printed with page after page of brilliantly colored and detailed pictures of Boulet's work.
This book ties these fantastic pictures of her work to the storyline of her life so that you can easily follow the progression and draw associations from what was going on in Boulet's life to what was going on with her art.
The reader gets to experience all the phases of Boulet's journey, watching her style and confidence unfold over the years, through her experiments with printmaking to the serendipitous ink spill that led to a crucial stylistic element emerging in her work.
The book never wavers, never flinches away from the reality of the story, even when it wanders into the sad and dark territory of Boulet's eventual decline from breast cancer.
The reader is allowed to explore with the artist the darker territory of the end of her life and view the transcendent imagery that manifested as a result.
There are a few small "irritations" that this book does indulge in, the prevalence for discussing pieces wildly out of order for example, or the fact that Susan's son was mentioned once or twice and then utterly forgotten as a major element in her life (even though she wrote extensively about how important motherhood was to her as a theme). But overall, I have to say that these idiosyncrasies are easy to forgive in light of the richness of the overall feast.
Everyone to whom I've shown this book, who is at all a fan of S.S.B's, has purchased their own copy and I can't leave it out on the table without people snatching it up and poring over it - I think that says it all.

I was shocked when I open the book because it contains 174k pages.But still I start reading the life of the man who build our country.And I found out that this book is being translated in different language which some I am not familiar with.Jill Gooder done her research to give this man a lot of respect from a modern day readers.This kind of book is really helpful to preserve our history and how we become today.This book provides a very thorough story and analysis of Benjamin Franklin. I learned a lot about this multifaceted man,, Franklin was sustained by an entrepreneurial spirit. He became America's best scientist, inventor, diplomat, writer, and business strategist, and he was also one of the most practical, though not most profound, political thinkers....But the most interesting thing that Franklin invented, and continually reinvented, was himself.This book will tell all about the man and how he build America.

A very informative book, this one discusses Benjamin Franklin's life, which will inspire many readers.

A very informative book, this one discusses Benjamin Franklin's life as a child, and as a successful man from his writings, to his inventions and beliefs. It talks about how he became successful in all his endeavors, and how he founded groups that became popular during his time making him a founder of the first American library, of the Junto, the first fire department, and the University of Philadelphia. The book is written long, but there are parts that were quite redundant discussing the same things over again. Perhaps the author can do better next time by being straight to the point. Other than than, I'd say it's going to be very helpful for students who wants to know more about the man called Benjamin Franklin.

I love individual history and I was in search of a good history book and I find this one on Kindle. I just finished an appraising and remarkable book. I already had some knowledge about the person I am talking about.
This book has provided me more about Benjamin Franklin. I never thought about all his happenings had enormous influence in the past. The book will certainly make you marvel how he done all the events in one and only life. Generally, a fantastic inspirational book. The author added in some unknown languages as well in this book, but I have no idea what writer has said there. Highly recommended.

Shocking

Tells the story of Richard Van Hook, a popular teacher at an elementary school who was accused of molesting and raping the children in his charge. It is well written and has an easy to read style, if not easy to read subject matter.
In my personal opinion, Dick Van Hook was not the only criminal here. I think most of his fellow teachers are beneath contempt. You can understand, if not condone, his family's animosity (although we are talking about children here). But for other teachers to call these little girls "sluts, tramps, whores", and to show no regard for their feelings and mental health is despicable. Their attitude shows quite clearly that the children were right NOT to go school personnel for help.They, and the principal, should all be ashamed of themselves. They don't deserve to have the privilege of teaching.
It's not uncommon here for people who "knew" the subjects of true crime books to share their views. I would love to see those teachers come here and defend calling 10-12 year old little girls the names they did.

A Pedophiliac Professor

Don Weber and Charles Bosworth's SECRET LESSONS is the story of a pedophile grade school teacher, Richard Van Hook, who, in his hometown of Collinsville, IL., for years sexually molested his female students. As his depravity progressed, his victims' ages decreased from high school age students until he was preying on 10 to 12 year old girls. In some cases he actually had intercourse with them. The story is as much about the town of Collinsville as about the girls and Van Hook. Rather than believe that a popular hometown boy from a well respected family could have committed such acts, many of the citizens and Van Hook's fellow teachers instead villified the young girls, to the point of calling them names. When the District Attorney in St. Clair County refused to indict Van Hook, DA Don Weber of neighboring Madison County found a way to gain jurisdiction over the case. The book deals with the investigation and prosecution of Van Hook as well as the trauma experienced by his victims.
SECRET LESSONS is well written and fast paced. The only criticsm I have is that the second half of the book is really at least as much about Weber as it is about the victims and Van Hook. Weber clearly has a very high opinion of himself and is quite self-congratulatory. And although he deserves to be commended for the over-and-above-the-call-of-duty dedication he displayed in prosecuting Van Hook, it does get a little tiring to continually read, for example, Weber's every thought, witness by witness, about his opponent's and his performance during the trial.
In spite of this flaw, SECRET LESSONS is a good book about an interesting case, and true crime fans will enjoy it.

That man was Pathetic!!! I knew some of these girls!

I moved to the town of Caseyville, IL right after this happened. I didn't catch much of the news at the age of 12/13, so don't recall the story. I came across the book at a grocery store. I love true crime. Do I like what they do, NO. The brain that they have, or don't have, it's just amazing how somebody can do such a thing.

Okay back to this book. I started reading the back of it and all I saw was Caseyville, IL on it. Okay for those of you unaware of Caseyville, at the time of this, you blinked you have missed the town. It was a neat town though. We had a little convient store, a barber shop, a drug store, a gas/service station, a few churches, an ice cream shop, that was a little walk and some other bussines. We had the school a Police Dept and the Library at that time was attached to the Police dept. You had to go in their door and go upstaris. Even though we had a nice time, I always felt unwelcome, really unwelcome. Not many people talked. But we had a clan of us and we pretty much stuck together. I noticed though the Junior High we attended never accepted ANY of the girls for stuff. Like cheerleading, never saw a Caseyville girl in there, even the ones that had been cheerleaders since first grade. Some I understood why they weren't chosen, but others should have been, over ones that were. I figured there was a reason just wasn't sure. We wound up moving again and life goes on. On April 3rd of 1994 I read the back of this book and noticed Caseyville, and well, had to read it. Holy Cow, it explained to me all these years later, why the town was they way they were. The scary part of that book was knowing who some of the girls were by reading about them and realising I could have been one of them. For some reason my parents delayed on our move. I will admit I didn't know who a couple of them were, but for the ones I did, it was crazy in my mind. I would just be reading and apologize to the girls, of course I am not going to mention names, but to be able to say "Oh my goodness that's..." was just mind boggling.

Now as far as the writing. It was fine to me, but yet again, I lived there, so thier descriptions were correct. I guess I was more awed as to knowing the girls and the families than paying attention to "writing" itself.

So don’t be overwhelmed by learning a new language. Set yourself small daily goals and time will fly. Before you know it you will find yourself with an extensive vocabulary.

Very Useful!

This is really good - for a book. I can think of so many different ways to use- and learn from this book. I would recommend to write 5 new french words on your arm/hand every day, and then repeat it in your head or out loud through out the day. As the book says; it takes on going dedication to learn a language.
Another way to use it, which I want to try, is to read once again while I'm in France. I think it would be most beneficial, to both read the language and actually hear people pronounce and use the words, in an actual conversation.

Helpful reference!

This is really fun. There are a thousand of french words that you and me can learn from this book. In the beginning, it may look like complicated to understand how it is being used in a sentence but taking your time while enjoying your self-study of the language can give you a sense of amusement every time you get to know a french word. So if you have some spare time and really interested in learning french words then you can always refer to this book.

I love the French language and I always wanted to learn it but I never had enough time. This book is a very simple guide in learning french or at least the basics of the language in 1000 words in different contexts. It provides more than one context for every word and this is very helpful because the single word some times have more than one meaning.

Save your money and time!

This book is written so poorly it seems like I was reading something that was interrupted from another language to English. The first paragraph was one complete sentence! There was one point in the introduction that I had to read it out loud to actually see if it made sense. All I wanted to do as I was reading was fix the grammar. I gave up reading after I read, and I quote, "Disney kicked the bucket at 65." Really?? Kicked the bucket?? I'm going to get a refund! Completely awful.

This book is HORRIBLY written, reads like a direct translation from another language. I was so annoyed after the intro I cannot go on reading. This is a loser!!

This story chronicles the journey of an 18 year-old young woman who entered an Order of teaching nuns in 1952, believing herself to have a religious vocation. After three years of novitiate training she pronounced vows and was assigned to teach in the elementary grades of parochial schools in New Jersey, Baltimore, Fall River and New York. During the last two years of her life as a nun, she matriculated in a program of religious studies at Fordham University. There she enjoyed exposure to many European theologians who proffered enlightened views on religion, and, she ultimately called into question, some of the tenets of the Catholic Church. Ultimately she rejected her faith and sought dispensation from her vows.

A young woman's quest

Marion Kenneally's journey from her 16-year-old self, enchanted with the beauty and mystery of the Catholic church as experienced by the "brides of Christ," to her more mature self in her early 30s is fascinating. The clear and detailed telling of the story, in all its ritual and evocative detail, makes it possible for us all to empathize with this not uncommon but actually rather extraordinary quest. Kenneally's story is set in an earlier time, starting in the mid-1950s, but the romantic notion of escaping into a better world, a world with precise rules and goals, is still a contemporary theme, and deserves exploration. My only complaint about this book is that it ended too soon! I wanted to know more about Marion's adventures, once she came to a decision about her religious calling. Such a thoughtful and perceptive observer; what happened next?

Beautifully written, an excellent read!

This beautifully written memoir tells a colorful story of a young woman's journey into the convent and how the social changes of the 1960s helped her escape from it. As an ex-Catholic myself, raised by nuns in the late 1960s and 70s, I loved learning about what went on behind the cloistered walls of convent school, and how one nun came to question the Catholic church's tenets, along with her blind faith and obedience to it.

From girlhood to early womanhood One Nun's Odyssey is a memorable tale of life in a nunnery, a cloistered life. I wish we had learned more about Marion's childhood and how she later adjusted to the culture shock of the 1960's onward. The details of her life lived in a closed environment, devoting her life to God is a remarkable story.
