Mary Cooney lived and worked with her husband Tom in Guatemala for nearly twenty years. An artist, teacher and writer, Mary has written devotionals, children’s books, the Journey Bible study series and the story of Maria Carillo, Daughter of California. Tom and Mary work with Spanish speaking ministries in Sonoma County California.

Do you enjoy learning about people who carry the grace of God with humility and joy, while serving Jesus with all their hearts? If so, you will enjoy this glimpse at the lives of David and Helen Ekstrom.
I found it an honor to meet these two servants of God through this book, and I came away encouraged and challenged by their simple, profound faith. These heroes lived their lives, and pursued their calling, from the presence of the Savior, and found their satisfaction in doing his will. What a beautiful picture of true satisfaction and fulfillment through surrender to the Master!
Through the author’s personal encounters with the Ekstroms, and use of the letters they wrote to supporters, you will have the privilege of getting to know a couple who lived to display the heart of the Father to a broken world.
I recommend you read this book—and let the good Father who David and Helen served call you into a life of faith, service, and fulfillment!

Inspiring Read

This is a fine account of how God worked through the Ekstroms to reach Guatemala. What marvelous sold-out lives they led: translating the Bible into previously unwritten dialects and exhibiting great faith through countless moves, earthquakes, difficulties and political unrest. The author spent many hours with Helen talking through her life and hearing her stories - now she has blessed us by writing it down!
How God used David & Helen! Near the end of the book is a list of what they accomplished and it is truly wonderful to read.

I am so glad a book was written about this couple. In a world where we have so much upheaval and hate this book is absolutely uplifting. It must have been such a blessing to know this inspiring pair. So many things happened to them that the book is really a page turner. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about real people .
