About the Author
Chuck Preble served for fifteen years as president and chief executive officer of Southern Peru Copper Corporation (SPCC), the premier copper operation in Peru, leading the company during the country's long unrest. His personal dedication to Peru and its people led him to serve on the boards of numerous professional and civic organizations. He was inducted into the American Mining Hall of Fame in 1998, received the Charles F. Rand Gold Medal from AIME, and was named Copper Man of the Year in 1998 by the Copper Club in New York City. Although he retired from SPCC in 1999, he still returns frequently to Peru.

Highlights of a foreign career in mining

A good view of the trials & tribulations in developing a mega mine project, with the uncertainties of finance, governmental changes and the like. Presents a good view of what it was like to be an expat working in South America.
A great read for both those starting out in the profession of the mineral industries or those contemplating a foreign career.

I was an employee at SPCC for a number of years so it was interesting to get a better understanding of the issues that faced the Company in the time I was there. As a documentary it is very superficial however.
