Mad Crazy Love For Missing History!

The author reveals her "literary past" that includes a very personal look at her Father, an educator and college professor. Reading along, we become aware of her "landing" in the world of great books, but wondering how it all happened? The author sets sail on a quest to find the genesis of her reading proclivities. You can clearly feel how her search can apply to all of us, and can be utilized in various disciplines. It's a search that casts a much broader net than merely literature. Why do we value Shakespeare over Soyinka? What "classic" films dominate our visual psyche over others? It's all a matter or orientation. The book is funny, witty, and if it wasn't a book I'd say it was too clever for words. Also, if you're not "up" on all the classic literature you may have missed, (present company included) there are more than enough observations, hints, and asides for you to understand the major players and their august bodies of work. Ultimately it's her relationship with her father that pulls us in, and it's this intimate exploration that rides shotgun with the author's intellectual journey. And what a first-rate journey it is.
