About the Author
Jerry Bostick is retired after thirty-five years in the aerospace industry with NASA, Grumman Aerospace, and United Space Alliance. He is co-author of From the Trench of Mission Control to the Craters of the Moon. Bostick and his wife, Vickie, live in Marble Falls, Texas. They have three children and ten grandchildren.

A PATTERN FOR GREATNESS!

It is probably not appropriate for me to write this review. Jerry is a friend f mine and I know him in the first person and was already convinced how is a national icon; what I call "space royalty." I therefore come at this book somewhat biased but having read many of it's ilk over the years I must say this turned into a real page turner. Jerry warned me that it contained a great deal of material concerning his personal life. He indicated it might be boring, hardly. It is a wonderful insight into how an average young man can excel to do great things. Jerry is a product of Midwest values which were firmly instilled by his parents and family. Add to that the pluck of an adventurer and a bit of luck and shake it all up through life lessons and out pops a rare breed. Jerry has made contributions beyond the average for the benefit of all humankind as witnessed by this wonderful chronicle and all with the humility of a saint. The valuable added benefit is that since Jerry was so involved with the Space Race of the 60's and beyond the material contained in this book reads like a compendium of space history. So, the reader gets a double treat. They are immediately acquainted with the type of human being that not only makes a difference but determines history but are treated to wonderful summary of the United State's achievements in space. My recommendation; read the book, apply Jerry's life lessons to your own journey and you too might make a difference

I have been fortunate enough to call Jerry Bostick a friend for a couple of years now, but with virtually every page of this book, I'm learning just how extraordinary his life has really been.
His resume at NASA speaks for itself. As chief of the Flight Dynamics Branch, he played a crucial role in landing men on the surface of the moon. The astronauts he knew ... the legends of mission control he worked with ... Jerry's not a name dropper. He didn't just meet them. He was one of them, a steely eyed missile man if ever there was one.
All of that is here, but there's so much more to Jerry's story, his memoir begs to be read. From his time in Washington as a Congressional page and doorman to serving as a consultant on the blockbuster movies Apollo 13 and Armageddon, he has come into close contact with an incredible assortment of characters. He knows Tom Hanks and Ron Howard. What else needs to be said?
Dedicated to his grandchildren, the book reads almost as if it was personal letter written directly to them. Because of that, there's a kind of intimacy that's unmatched by other autobiographies.
He's joked and called himself sort of a Forrest Gump, because he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.

An excellent read. Especially if you are a NASA fan

An excellent read. Especially if you are a NASA fan. Mr. Bostick covers his entire life from childhood and into his retirement. Mr. Bostick started from the cotton fields in Mississippi to helping us set foot on the Moon to working with people in Washington , through the shuttle program including aerospace contractors. There is not much in the book he has not covered dealing with NASA. This book held me to the last page.
