About the Author
Born in Brooklyn, New York and taken illegally to Mexico as an infant, Grace Banta lived her formative years in Mexico. She met and married her husband in Hawaii; they now live in Florida. Inspiring Tale

Once I read the preface, I had a hard time putting this book down and finished it in two days. The story is incredible - a child who endured so much horror had the sense to make good decisions to protect her own safety and ultimately her life when surrounded by adults who had no regard for either. I ached for young Graciela especially when every opportunity to escape her torturous existence vanished. At 16, when she finally was in a position to take control over her life and get back to the US, it seemed her struggle was just beginning. However she once again triumphed over adversity and received an education and independence. I was most moved by the support of her husband and children towards the end though when she still sought answers. This is an amazing story well told by an amazing woman who was helped by some good people along the way but her success is really due to her own tenacity and perhaps faith. It is inspiring.

An amazing story of strength and hope.

I did not want to put this book down from the moment I began reading the preface. Grace Banta's retelling of her childhood filled with fear, abuse and strife is done with eloquence and for lack of a better word "grace". Her hope and persistence despite the obstacles she faces are inspirational. This is a truly beautiful and miraculous story.

This book is a "must read". Graciela, No One's Child" is one of the most moving accounts I have ever read. It is the story of utmost strength, determination and faith. Grace Banta reveals the horrors she had endured in her childhood after being abducted as an infant and brought illegally to Mexico. She was forced to live in slave-like conditions, denied education, and denied love. Yet through her adversities she always maintained the drive for survival and the truth behind her heritage, no matter how painful it might have been. She remained positive with a drive so few of us can ever imagine under the circumstances. She struggled to free herself and eventually faced the truth.
Very few books have ever brought tears to my eyes. This story shattered my emotions. "Graciela, No One's Child" is not fiction, It is Grace's story.
