An exciting life story that takes my breath away

Jennie had me at "A Lady in France," the name of her blog where I first read her memoir one chapter at a time. Her story takes the reader through her life from familiar America to far-flung Asia and Africa and finally settling in France, in a way that fills you with awe and wonder about her strength of spirit and that so many rich experiences can happen to one person in a lifetime. She writes with great care and thoughtfulness and describes each event so clearly you feel as if you are watching the scene unfold before you. A memoir where the author can share the meaning in life's events both tragic and joyful while staying relatable even in such exotic circumstances is one that inspires me to find meaning wherever life leads. A Lady in France is inspiring, gut-wrenching, warm, and exciting, and I was sorry to come to the end.

Fascinating and riveting

I started reading Jennie's blog earlier this year, and I was fascinated by her story. She weaves a beautiful pattern from the past to the present, and her descriptions of the places she has been around the world are vivid and gorgeously narrated. Although I knew part of the story from her site, the book brings everything together and offers a story that I will not forget.

This is an epic memoir, because no detail of it needs to be similar to yours, yet you will forever be transformed after reading! Ms. Goutet takes us across continents, deep into the heart and flying above as a spirit. She will energize your soul and affirm your faith in... whatever gives you faith. Loved this book.
